OHLGS – Tuesday November 21, 2018: The Head of Service, Dr. Nana Ato Arthur met with the interim executives of the Ghana Association of Local Government Service Administrative Officers (GALGA) who called on him to officially introduce the Association to him. Present at the meeting were the Chief Director, Mr. Joseph Dasanah and the Director for Human Resource Development, Mr. James Oppong Mensah.

The meeting discussed a number of issues the thrust of which was the seeming neglect of Administrative Officers in the ongoing reforms in the Service. It was suggested that, for consistency and to ensure harmony with the structure of all other departments in the Service, the Central Administration Department should have a Unit with clear functions and roles for Administrative Officers to enable them effectively carry out their duties.

Dr. Arthur noted that Administrative Officers provided critical support and served as the hub around which issues evolve in the Service. He said, he welcomes pragmatic suggestions to improve service delivery and believed that is the Association’s objective. He urged the Association’s leadership to encourage their members to exhibit the highest standards of professionalism in support of the forward march of the Service.
