Head of Service Visits Kintampo Municipal Assembly

The Head of the Local Government Service, Dr. Callistus Mahama, on Friday 14th October, 2016, paid a working visit to the Kintampo Municipal Assembly in the Brong Ahafo Region to interact with staff. Accompanying the Head of Service were the Chief Director, Mr. Joseph M. Dasanah, Directors and senior officers of LGSS and a representative of the Brong Ahafo Regional Co-ordinating Council.
Highlights of the issues discussed were: the staffing situation and performance of the Assembly; delays in the promotion and upgrading of staff, salary related issues; nomination of staff for foreign programmes; IGF mobilization; transfer grants payments; and inadequate residential accommodation for staff.
Other issues also raised were: current night allowance for staff; distinction between the Local Government Workers Union and the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana; inadequate working tools for Agric officers; working relationship between Assemblies and the Information Services Department; provision of incentives to motivate persons who contribute articles to the LGS news bulletin; headship of the Central Administration Department; and exclusion of the Internal Audit Unit (IAU) from the Central Administration Department.
The Head of Service congratulated the Assembly for the performance, responded to the issues and questions raised and urged the staff to lend their full support to Management of the Assembly especially in the area of revenue mobilization. The Co-ordinating on behalf of the Assembly and staff, thanked the Head of Service and his team for the opportunity.
