EMBRACE TEAM-WORK OVER DISSONANCE – HEAD OF SERVICE TO OFFICERS OF SOCIAL WELFARE-COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

SUHUM – Wednesday, November 8, 2023: The Head of the Local Government Service (LGS), Ing. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur has called on officers in the Social Welfare-Community Development Department to bridge the gap of dissonance in their respective fields of work.  

He made the statement during a coaching exercise on Case Management, Standard Operation Systems, Referral Pathways and Social Welfare Information System (SWIMS) at the Suhum Municipal Assembly. 

The Head of Service described the coaching exercise as one that required coordinated efforts in order to successfully implement the laid down integrated social services for which he described teamwork as a key factor.  Dr. Ato Arthur acknowledged the enormous support the LGS receives from United Nations International Children Emergency Funds (UNICEF) and urged the officers to ensure it was put to good use. He emphasised that one of the key elements in achieving a holistic service delivery mechanism is through a harmonious chain of dedicated work force with a collaborative teamwork orientation and urged the officers to keep a smooth work milieu in order to enhance productivity and a comprehensive service delivery.  

Meanwhile, the Regional Director of Social Welfare, Mrs. Deborah Kwabeah, described officers of Suhum Social Welfare-Community Development Department as one of the best officers.  She applauded them for their tremendous dedication to the project and encouraged them to continue in same vein. Issues of technicalities she said was the only challenge they sometimes encountered and pleaded for immediate intervention.  

Adding on, the Coordinating Director, Mr.  Gabriel Dari of the Assembly expressed appreciation to the Head of Service for his visit and the insightful admonishing he gave the officers. He gave an assurance that the concerns of the Head of Service would be addressed by Management to bring Suhum Municipal Assembly to a prestigious repute.  

The project is in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) and the Ministry of Local Government Decentralisation and Rural Development (MLGDRD) with support from the United Nations International Children Emergency Funds (UNICEF). It is targeted to sensitise all Social Welfare-Community Development Officers in the newly selected ten (10) MMDAs across the country on Case Management, Standard Operation Systems, Referral Pathways and Social Welfare Information System (SWIMS).
