OHLGS ORGANISES SOIREE FOR MEDIA STAKEHOLDERS

Accra – Thursday January 13,  2022: The Office of the Head of Local Government Service (OHLGS) had organized a soiree for media stakeholders. The programme was aimed to improve the knowledge and appreciation of the role of the service and to deepen media’s reportage on its activities. The event was attended by News Editors, Reporters and Camera Crew from selected media houses and present at the event was the Head of Service, Ing. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur, Directors and Heads of Units of the OHLGS.

In his address, Dr. Arthur commended the media for their contribution to the growing publicity and awareness of the activities of the Service. He observed that issues such as attribution of Local Government Services (LGS) programmes to other agencies; one-way approach in reporting; and the publication of unsubstantiated news needs to be addressed to improve reportage to the wider public.

On the Services outlook for the 2022 fiscal year, he said that the LGS looks forward for the release of budgeted estimate from Government and other Development Partners (DPs) to ensure the successful conduct and completion of planned activities.

The Media stakeholders present at the event expressed their gratitude to the Head of Service for this initiative. They described the event as very educative and would be happy if it could be held frequently to better inform the media on issues as well as help to build a stronger bond between the media and the Service.
