Accra – Monday, 3rd August, 2026: The Office of the Head of the Local Government Service (OHLGS), in collaboration with Blackwood Optometry, on Friday, 31st July, 2026, organised a free eye screening exercise for staff as part of its commitment to promoting employee health and well-being.
The programme commenced with an informative presentation on glaucoma, raising awareness about one of the leading causes of irreversible blindness. Participants were educated on the risk factors, symptoms, the importance of early detection, and the need for regular eye examinations to preserve healthy vision.
Following the presentation, staff actively participated in an interactive question-and-answer session, where eye care professionals from Blackwood Optometry addressed concerns and provided practical advice on maintaining good eye health and preventing vision-related conditions.
The exercise concluded with comprehensive eye screenings for staff. Participants received professional eye examinations, personalised recommendations, and referrals where further assessment or treatment was required.
The initiative underscores OHLGS’s commitment to promoting preventive healthcare and fostering a healthy and productive workforce.
