Various – Wednesday, March 10, 2021: The Office of the Head of the Local Government Service (OHLGS) has commissioned teams to undertake end of year assessment of performance contracts signed between Honorable Regional Ministers and their Regional Co coordinating Directors and also between Honorable District Chief Executives and their respective Metropolitan, Municipal and District Co-coordinating Directors for year 2020.
The RCCs and MMDAs are being assessed on the implementation of a set of specific deliverables agreed upon for the 2020 fiscal year. The performance of the RCCs and the MMDAs will be ranked for recognition of outstanding performance for the purposes of rewards and sanctions.
The performance management system was instituted in 2015 to provide an objective and unbiased approach for performance measurement at all levels of the Service. The process also enables the collation and sharing of best practices and lessons learnt among the RCCs and MMDAs in addition to identification of challenges and appropriate remedial measures.
The results of the assessment would also be published in both the print and electronic media as part of efforts to promote accountability. Conduct of the end of year assessment of the 2020 PC is being sponsored by UNICEF and intend to award deserving MMDAs.
