HEAD OF SERVICE AND DIRECTORS OF OHLGS MEETS DANIDA REVIEW MISSION TEAM

OHLGS – 20th February, 2017: The Head of Service, Dr. Callistus Mahama and Directors of OHLGS interacted with a team from the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) as part of a mid-term review on the Rights to Services and Good Governance Programme (RSGGP). The RSGGP was designed to stimulate the demand side of accountability by encouraging the citizenry to participate in sub-national development initiatives and demand for improved service delivery and justice.

With DANIDA set to end programme support in 2018, the meeting discussed initiatives to ensure sustainability of programme gains and adequacy of exit plans for projects jointly implemented by the Local Government Service and DANIDA.

Highlights of the meeting included a presentation on progress achieved with regards to Administrative Decentralisation by the LGS with support from the RSGGP. An open forum session afforded members of the review mission the opportunity to seek clarification on the presentation and issues they deemed critical to ensuring sustainability of programme gains.

The Head of Service expressed gratitude to DANIDA for assisting the LGS to develop critical policy frameworks to facilitate service delivery. He was optimistic that with the support received, the Service is well positioned to sustain gains when DANIDA eventually exits in 2018.
