JICA DELEGATION CALLS ON HEAD OF SERVICE

Accra – Tuesday August 17, 2021: The Head of Service, Ing. Dr Nana Ato Arthur received a three – member delegation led by the head of the Governance Sector, Masato Fukuhara from the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA). The meeting among others discussed a proposed work plan by JICA for implementation of its support to help the Local Government Service develop systems and structures to strengthen records and fixed assets management at all levels of the Service.

The project spans a period of 3 years and JICA would provide technical assistance and support to the LGS for the development and operationalisation of an effective and efficient records and fixed assets management system which would be replicated in all 16 Regional Co-ordinating Councils (RCCs) and 260 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs).

The Technical Advisor for the project, Tanaka Yusuku presented the project work plan and outlined the major activities to be executed within the three-year period. He said the deliverables included the development of manuals and guidelines which would be piloted and replicated at all levels of the Service.

The Head of Service, Ing. Dr Nana Ato Arthur was elated about the initiative and expressed appreciation to JICA for the support. He reiterated the Services readiness and commitment to collaborate and support the technical advisor to ensure the successful implementation of the project.

Present at the meeting were the Chief Director, Mr James Oppong-Mensah and others Directors of the Office of the Head of the Local Government Service, (OHLGS)
