– , : The Office of the Head of Local Government Service (OHLGS) begun a two (2) day management retreat to review its performance for the just ended year and plan for the year 2021.
The Head of Service, Ing. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur in a statement appreciated all Directors for being dependable in achieving so much in the year 2020 amidst covid-19. He said the retreat offers a good platform to discuss issues pertinent to the evolution and repositing of the organization; and he believes the two-day retreat will provide leverage to have insightful and fruitful discussion on where we want the Service to be over the next governance period (milestones towards our vision). He added that its also an opportunity to brainstorm on strategies, synergies, innovations and collaborations needed to be forged with both internal and external stakeholders to the goal of the Service. He urged all to be active participants.
The Executive Secretary of the Inter- Ministerial and Coordinating Committee (IMCC) on Decentralisation, Ing. Salifu Mahama was the special guest. He commended the Head of Service and his team for the fantastic work done over the past few years particularly in developing protocols, strengthening of human resource capacities and prioritising performance management within the Service. He stated the crucial role of the OHLGS if the goals and objectives of the Ghana’s National Decentralisation reforms are to be achieved. He emphasised that implementation of the National Decentralisation Policy and Strategy (2020- 2024) continues in earnest and the support of the IMCC to the efforts of the Local Government Service.
Representatives of the European Union Project led by Ms. Sharon Hall were also present to brief management on the progress of the EU support programme. Directorate and Unit heads took turns to share with the meeting achievements and challenges of the past year and activities they intend to pursue this year as contained in the 2021 Action Plan.
The retreat continues and ends on Friday February 5, 2021.
