Accra – Tuesday, September 17, 2024: The Head of Service, Ing. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur has received a ten (10) member delegation from the Eswatini Local Government on a study visit.
The purpose of the visit was for the delegation to gain knowledge into Ghana’s Local Government system.
The Minister of Tinkhundla Administration and Development of Eswatini Kingdom and leader of the delegation, Sikhumbuzo Dlamini, expressed the appreciation of his team to the Head of Service for the opportunity to study the best practices of local governance in Ghana. He explained that the delegation sought to gain insights into the implementation of effective local governance in Ghana, the challenges and successes chalked by the Service.
In a welcome statement, the Head of Service expressed appreciation to the delegation for making Ghana their country of study. He said the Local Government Service (LGS) was ever ready to share with them the best practices of local governance and encouraged them to ask questions and seek clarification on issues of concern as deliberations proceeded.
The Head of Service used the platform to walk the delegation through a presentation on the step-by-step approach of practicing effective local governance in Ghana. His presentation treated topics on the history of the Local Government Service, the Functions, the Human Resource Management at the RCCs and MMDAs level, the implementation and benefits of the Performance Management System in the Service, the measures and criteria for Postings and Transfers of staff in the Service, among others.
The leader of the delegation, Mr. Dlamini expressed the appreciation of his team to the Head of Service and his management team for the opportunity, the time and the presentation they shared.
