Accra- Thursday, March 14, 2024: The Head of the Local Government Service, Ing Dr. Nana Ato Arthur has implored the members of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana Ladies Club (CLOGSAGLAC) and all staff of the Services to ensure prudent use of resources at their disposal. This he believes can be achieved by avoiding waste and mismanagement of resources.
The Head of Service made the call when he addressed members during the first quarter meeting of the club at the CLOGSAG auditorium in Accra.
Dr. Ato Arthur stressed the need for a fundamental change in attitude, time management and discarding all forms of ill-mannered behaviour that has the tendency to bring the image of their mother institutions into disrepute.
He entreated members of CLOGSALAC to share best practices and inspiration among themselves through networking, mentorship and advocacy initiatives. This he strongly believes will empower members to excel in their career and foster a sense of loyalty to their respective Services.
EXCELLENCE AND LOYALTY
Ing. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur described the theme of the meeting which was “Excellence and Loyalty in the Civil and Local Government Service” as very appropriate.
He therefore entreated them to maintain a high level of professionalism in executing their mandate to reflect excellence and loyalty as core values of the Civil and Local Government Services.
This, he said, “compels you to work in unison with the key focus on achieving the common goal of improving the lives of citizens”.
Dr. Ato Arthur charged members, as stakeholders, to understand the need to promote citizen-oriented administration and service delivery.
The Head of Service used the platform to impress on the staff of the Civil and Local Government Services to harness the potentials of the current technological age to reduce and avoid all forms of wastage, unnecessary delays and for effective and efficient use of resources.
POLITICAL NEUTRALITY
It would be recalled that a 9-member panel unanimous ruling by the Supreme Court in the case of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana verse the Attorney General and 2 others in 2017,
The ruling of the apex court was that excessive partnership in the Civil and Local Government Services affects the anonymity and neutrality principles required for the service to function effectively thereby banning them from active partisan politics.
Ing. Dr. Ato Arthur consequently advised the members of the Civil and Local Government Services Association to continue to remain apolitical before, during and after December 7, 2024, general elections.
