TAKORADI – WEDNESDAY MAY 9, 2018: The Head of Local Government Service, Ing. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur has attended the 4th Annual General Meeting of the Association of District Coordinating Directors (ASDCOD) held at the Kingstel Hotel in Takoradi. The conference was themed: “Quality Leadership for Efficient and Effective Management of Local Government Administration in Ghana.”
Addressing the conference, the Head of Service said, the object of the Service (ie to secure the effective administration and management of the decentralized local governance system in the country) is aimed to contribute towards deepening administrative decentralization, promoting democracy and the provision of decentralised social services. He called on participants to demonstrate high standards of professionalism in the discharge of duties and also support reforms in the local governance sector.
Dr. Arthur said following the Ghana beyond Aid declaration by the President, local governments must be innovative and pragmatic in mobilizing resources to prosecute their development agenda. He urged Coordinating Directors to localise the President’s call to facilitate individual and collective efforts towards local and national development.
The Head of Service was accompanied by the Chief Director, Mr. Joseph Dasanah and other senior staff at the Office of the Head of Local Government Service (OHLGS).
