Central Region-Thursday January 23, 2020: The Head of the Local Government Service, Ing. Dr Nana Ato Arthur attended the inaugural ceremonies of the newly constituted assemblies of the Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira and the Twifo Atti Morkwa District Assemblies all in the Central Region. A total of thirty-One (31) assembly members made up twenty-Four (24) elected and seven (7) appointees as well as twenty-eight (28) elected and thirteen (13) appointees were sworn into office at the Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira District and the Twifo Atti Morkwa District Assemblies respectively.
In brief statements at the respective functions, Dr Arthur underscored the critical role played by Assemblies in public service delivery and urged the assembly members to work with their Chief Executives to facilitate implementation of government programmes. He entreated them to support their Assemblies leverage on ongoing efforts in the areas of rate payment; and the completion of their Street Naming and Property Addressing exercises to enhance Internally Generated Fund (IGF) mobilisation.
He urged the Assemblies to work hand-in-hand with the National Digital Property Addressing System and the Ghana Post GPS; and to ensure effective development control within their jurisdiction among others.
The Chief Executives of the two Assemblies urged the assembly members to be exemplary in their conduct for others to emulate, strive for unity and uphold the laws.
