Aburi – Thursday 2, 2023: The Head of the Local Government Service, Ing. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur has paid an unannounced working visit to the Akuapim South Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region.
The Head of Service with the Chief Director of the Office of the Head of the Local Government Service (OHLGS), Ms. Felicia Dapaah and a Public Affairs Officer, were received by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Frank Aidoo and his Coordinating Director, Ms Lydia Akueteh and staff of the Assembly upon arrival.
In a short remark by the Head of Service, he expressed optimism in the prospects of the Assembly to improve service delivery and encourage them to adopt all possible measures for the swift development of Akuapim South.
He said that the success of the Assembly depends on the dedication of its staff and urged them to work meticulously in order to achieve the desired goals for the year 2023 in the Assembly.
Dr. Arthur also admonished staff on the need to eschew active participation in partisan politics citing the Supreme Court’s ruling on political neutrality of staff of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG). He said staff who overtly participate in partisan politics risk being sanctioned.
The Head of Service also cautioned against the creeping culture of indiscipline among staff and charged the Management of the Assembly to sanction culpable staff. However, he encouraged them to abide by the rudiments of the Service to avoid any sanctions that would bring the Service to disrepute.
The Chief Director of the OHLGS, Ms. Felicia Dapaah, also used the platform to admonish staff to demonstrate a high sense of professionalism towards their work and be the best ambassadors and in unison support the MCE to collectively succeed as an Assembly.
The MCE, Hon. Aidoo was grateful to the Head of Service for the visit. He assured that the admonitions made by the HoS would be taken into consideration and promise to harness all available prospects at the disposal of the Assembly to improve service delivery.
