OHLGS – Monday 13th May, 2024: The Head of the Local Government Service, Ing. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur has encouraged the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to provide the needed leadership to improve the permit processing turnaround time to enhance service delivery.
He made the call during the Development Administrative Data Compilation and Performance Assessment dialogue session organised by the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MOTI) in collaboration with the Office of the Head of Local Government Service (OHLGS) through the Business Regulatory Reforms (BRR) Unit.
Dr. Arthur acknowledged the existing challenges faced by the MMDAs in the issuance of development permits and appreciated the BRR Unit at the Ministry of Trade and Industry for taking critical steps to introduce major reforms in development permitting processes. He also recognised the importance of data in enhancing service delivery at all levels of local governance.
The focus of the session was to discuss the development permit turnaround time performance, data steps, the challenges, and the next steps needed to facilitate specific reforms in the issuance of development licenses to improve businesses in Ghana.
