Tamale – Wednesday, February 15, 2023: The Head of the Local Government Service, Ing. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur has paid an unannounced working visit to the Nanton District Assembly in the Northern Region.
The Head of Service with the Chief Director of the Office of the Head of the Local Government Service (OHLGS), Ms. Felicia Dapaah and a Public Affairs Officer, were received by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Abdulai Muritada, his Coordinating Director Mohammed Shaibu, and staff of the Assembly upon arrival.
Dr. Arthur’s engagement with staff afforded them the opportunity to reveal gaps in their working conditions such as inadequate working logistics, lack of office accommodation, and lack of capacity-building programmes for staff amongst others.
The Head of Service commended the staff of the Assembly for their commitment to work notwithstanding some challenges they are confronted with. He assured them that the Management of the OHLGS would expedite action to address the challenges.
Nonetheless, he said that the success of the Assembly depends on the dedication of staff and urged them to continue working meticulously in unison with the DCE in order to achieve the desired goals for the year 2023 in the Assembly.
He also encouraged them to abide by the rudiments of the Service to avoid any sanctions that would bring the Service to disrepute.
The DCE expressed gratitude to the Head of Service for the visit. He assured him that the Management of the Assembly would ensure staff adhere to the admonitions and promised to harness all available prospects at the disposal of the Assembly to improve service delivery.
