Fumesua – Friday August 3, 2018: The Office of the Head of the Local Government Service (OHLGS) has organised a two (2) day training workshop to sensitise and build capacities of staff of the ten (10) Regional Co-ordinating Councils (RCCs) on the LGS’s Performance Management System (PMS) to enable them effectively monitor its implementation. The workshop was held at the Noda Hotel, Fumesua in the Ashanti Region.
A total of twenty eight (28) participants drawn from the Human Resource Management Units and other departments of the RCCs were trained and equipped with knowledge and requisite skills to effectively observe and check progress of implementation of the Performance Management Contracts (PMCs) signed between District Chief Executives and their Coordinating Directors in March, 2018.
The OHLGS would support the RCCs to monitor implementation of the 2018 PMCs to facilitate its mid-year review and this would be done over a period of a month. The status of integration of decentralised departments into the departments of the MMDAs would also be assessed during the monitoring visits. Workshop participants were adequately sensitized on: the LGS Service Delivery Standards; training strategies; outcome of the 2016 inventory of the status of established departments; implementation strategy of the PMS as well as provided with tools to enable them undertake the assignment effectively and efficiently.
The Director of Management and Technical Services (MTS) at the OHLGS, Ing. Mabel Amoako-Atta entreated participants to exhibit the highest standards of professionalism as they embark on the monitoring exercise. She urged them to be focused, devoted and dedicated in the work.
The Acting Chief Director of OHLGS, Mr. James Oppong-Mensah urged participants to fully utilize the knowledge acquired through successful execution of assigned duties. He re-affirmed the OHLG’s commitment to build the capacities of all staff for improved service delivery.
Present at the workshop were senior officers from the OHLGS and the Human Resource Director of the Regional Co-ordinating Council, Ashanti Region.
