OHLGS Organises 2016 End of Year Staff Durbar

On Wednesday 21st December, 2016, the Office of the Head of the Local Government Service (OHLGS) organised a staff durbar to take stock of activities in 2016 as the year ebbs to an end. The forum afforded the opportunity for the Head of Service and Directors to interact with members of staff.

The Head of Service, Dr Callistus Mahama described the year under review as an improvement over previous years. Successes chalked in the area of reforms was remarkable. He cited the passage of the Local Governance Bill by Parliament in October 2016 as one of the major achievements. He commended members of staff for their dedication and immense contributions to the success story and indicated that implementation of the Performance Management System (PMS) at the OHLGS will be rigorous in 2017.

The Chief Director, Mr Joseph Dasanah urged members of staff to continue to demonstrate professionalism in their duties. The Chairman of the Staff Welfare Association also briefed the gathering on progress made with respect to the operations of the association. He indicated that members will start benefiting from the welfare contributions in 2017.

The open forum session provided members of staff the opportunity to seek clarification on issues of concern. Security within the office premises was paramount among the issues discussed. Some members of staff also expressed appreciation to the Head of Service and Management for the successes achieved so far.

The Head of Service was hopeful that 2017 will be a year of consolidation of all the initiatives undertaken over the previous years.
