OHLGS REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO GENDER EQUALITY – CHIEF DIRECTOR ENDORSES CLOGSAGLAC INITIATIVE

Accra – Thursday, June 5, 2025: The Director of Administration at the Office of the Head of the Local Government Service (OHLGS), Ms. Golda Asante, speaking on behalf of the Chief Director, Mrs. Felicia Dapaah Agyeman-Boakye, has reiterated the Service’s full support for advancing gender equality within the Local Government and Civil Services.

She delivered this message during the First Quarter General Meeting and Capacity Building Seminar organized by the CLOGSAG Ladies’ Club (CLOGSAGLAC) at the OHLGS. The event aimed to sharpen the leadership and teamwork skills of female staff while preparing for the Club’s upcoming general elections.

Ms. Asante highlighted that as public service continues to evolve, the role of women has become not just important, but essential. She noted that CLOGSAGLAC, established in December 1992, was born out of the need to address the underrepresentation of women in key decision-making positions and to empower them through mentorship, advocacy, and capacity building.

She urged the Club’s leadership to intensify efforts in mentoring and peer-support structures, and to promote continuous training and skills development to ensure an inclusive and empowering work environment for women.

The Vice President of the Public Services Commission, Dr. Mrs. Irene Stella Agyenim-Boateng, led a highly engaging session on the theme “Leadership and Teamwork for Effective Growth and Development.” She underscored the importance of visionary leadership, mentorship, and teamwork in driving organisational success and encouraged the Club to adopt sustainable strategies to support its mission.

Other highlights of the event included presentations on past initiatives led by CLOGSAGLAC, such as health and wellness seminars, grooming and personal development sessions, stress management workshops, and hands-on training in soap making, beadwork, and batik production.

In her closing remarks, Mrs. Christine Edmund, President of CLOGSAGLAC, expressed gratitude to the Chief Director and other dignitaries for their support and reaffirmed the Club’s commitment to championing the empowerment of women in the Civil and Local Government Services.
