Aburi – Friday, February 3, 2023: The Office of the Head of the Local Government Service (OHLGS) has organized a two (2) day technical review workshop session on the Local Government Service (LGS) Performance Contract Key Performance Indicators for the Regional Coordinating Councils (RCCs) and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) for the year 2023.
The two-day technical session was organized at Aburi in the Eastern Region on Thursday February 2, and Friday February 3, 2023 for management of the OHLGS to engage National level, CSC, DPs and other high level stakeholders on Key Performance Areas (KPAs) such as Local Economic Development, Sanitation and Environment, Social Services, Financial Management and Reporting as well as Infrastructure.
In in his opening remark the Head of Service, Ing. Dr. Nana Ato said the overall objective of the PMS is to create a high performance culture amongst staff of the LGS on the need to perform collectively above expectations for improved service delivery.
He indicated that the Performance Contract (PC) as a tool for the implementation of the PMS is to enable the key priorities of the Contract to be geared towards the achievements of set targets in the KPIs within a given time frame.
He urged officers present to make the best of the technical review workshop as the effective implementation of plans and activities designed and agreed on would determine the direction of the Service in the year under review.
The OHLGS management members present, together with key Senior Technical Officers from Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and partners from UNICEF as well as USAID and CARE Int. Ghana were taken through the LGS PMS framework and performance trends of the MMDAs of the various indicators over the previous years.
Participants took time to review the existing KPIs and together proposed areas the KPIs could be improved with the overall aim of challenging the MMDAs and RCCs to improve further their service delivery mandate and harmonize efforts towards achieving national set targets.
In a closing remark, the Director, Management and Technical Services (MTSD), Mrs. Lillian Baeka, thanked all participants for their contribution towards the review workshop.
She was optimistic that the knowledge and experiences shared on the KPIs would contribute significantly to the effective implementation of the PMS across the various levels of the Service.
