As a sequel to the training conducted for the 170 MMDAs outside the scope of the Local Government Capacity Support Project (LGCSP) between September and October, 2016, the Office of the Head of the Local Government Service (OHLGS) has completed another series of training for these MMDAs in Assets Management, IGF Strategy and the use of Public Financial Management (PFM) reporting templates. Beneficiaries of the training included Coordinating Directors, Finance Officers and Budget Officers. The training begun on Monday 12th December and closed on Wednesday 21st December, 2016.

The training was conducted at five zonal centres including Ho for Greater Accra and Volta Regions; Ejisu for Ashanti and Eastern Regions; Techiman for Brong Ahafo and Upper West Regions; Elmina for the Central and Western Regions; and Tamale for Northern and Upper East Regions. The training sessions were facilitated by experts drawn from the various fields of public financial management.

The training workshop was to introduce participants of the 170 MMDAs to modern and improved trends in fixed assets management, strategies to maximize revenue mobilization and the use of the PFM templates to report and educate the citizenry on the operations of the MMDAs. The training is also to build the capacities of these officers to ensure prudent use of public resources for the benefit of their people. Participants are expected to also build the capacities of other officers with the knowledge and skills acquired.
