Your Excellency the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana,
Hon. Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection,
Hon. Ministers from Health and Education
Development Partners,
Distinguished Guest,
Directors and staff of MoGCSP,
The Media,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
On behalf of the Local Government Service, I wish to pledge our unflinching support for the Development of the Ghana National Household Registry (GNHR).
We at the Local Government Service are very happy to be part of the process. We support the implementation of Social Protection in all Districts as a key intervention to address poverty, vulnerability, exclusion and inequality to promote the improvement in the standard of living and welfare of people. The role of the LGS in the implementation of the GNHR cannot be under estimated.
We have a key role to play in the formation and capacity building of the Regional Social Protection Coordination Committees, The District and Community Social Protection Committees. These committees which are part of the Governance structure /framework are a prerequisite for the effective and efficient delivery of Social Protection in Districts and Communities in Ghana. We are committed to have them in place to support the process. Our staff are ready to support this initiative.
Your Excellency, our commitment has been demonstrated by our support to the MoGCSP in successfully organising and facilitating the Regional/Zonal consultation in the development of the National Social Protection Policy.
Hon. Minister for GCSP, Please be assured of our commitment and support, in collaboration with other stakeholders, to successfully implement the development of the Ghana National Household Registry.
The Local Government Service has developed a comprehensive capacity building framework for the entire local government system. This, we believe, will go a long way to build the requisite capacity of staff in the Regions and Districts on a sustainable basis to deliver to expectation. In this regard, we will be counting very much on your expertise in the area of Social Protection to build a dedicated cadre of professionals to implement the policies from the MGCSP.
On Behalf of LGS, I wish the Hon. Minister and the Ministry, the best in their endeavours. May God Bless Ghana.
Thank you all.
