HEAD OF SERVICE ATTENDS PRE-LAUNCH ENGAGEMENT OF 2017 GHANA DISTRICT LEAGUE TABLE

ACCRA-Friday November 3, 2017: The Head of the Local Government Service, Dr Nana Ato Arthur joined stakeholders for the 2017 pre-launch engagement of the Ghana District League Table (DLT) in the Greater Accra Region held at the premises of the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council (RCC).

Addressing stakeholders at the event, Dr Arthur urged RCCs, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) as well as other stakeholders to effectively participate in the District League Table arrangement. He further urged them to use the rankings with its corresponding data to improve service delivery. He encouraged MMDAs that performed poorly to learn from the success stories of the top ranked ones and make concerted efforts towards improving on their performance.

Dr Arthur expressed optimism that the DLT would impact positively on service delivery by MMDAs and reaffirmed the LGS’ unwavering interest and support to the DLT.

The pre-launch of the DLT is a platform for stakeholders to share the outcomes and lessons learnt from the three years of its implementation. With this, stakeholders will be able to familiarise themselves with the objectives, processes and outcomes of the initiative.

The DLT project is a joint initiative of CDD-Ghana and UNICEF-Ghana which is implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development as well as the Office of the Head of the Local Government Service (OHLGS).
