ING. DR NANA ATO ARTHUR CONTRIBUTES TOWARDS THE CONSTRUCTION OF NATIONAL CATHEDRAL

Accra-Friday December, 24, 2021: The Head of the Local Government Service, Ing. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur has donated a cheque of GHS 24,000 towards the construction of the National Cathedral. The gesture was in response to the government’s passionate appeal to individuals and organisations to help speed up the construction of the historic project. Dr. Arthur said, he conceived the idea of supporting the project a week ago and decided to make it a reality on his birth date, 24th December.

He indicated that the cheque of GHS 24,000 was his quota to building a sanctuary to the glorification of God as he chalks 60 years today. He called on Ghanaians and benevolent organisations to support the government to make the construction of the historic monument a reality.

The Executive Director of the National Cathedral of Ghana Secretariat, Dr. Paul Opoku-Mensah who received the cheque on behalf of the Board of Trustees expressed appreciation to Ing. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur for his kind gesture and called on Ghanaians to emulate his example. 

Dr. Opoku-Mensah promised the gesture would be used for its intended purpose. He underscored the importance of the National Cathedral adding that the national monument was for Ghana and the glory of God. On the progress of work done, he hinted that work was progressing steadily.

Earlier at his office, the Executives of the Association of District Co-ordinating Directors, (ASCOD) led by its acting Vice President, Mr. Francis Darko who is also the Co-ordinating Director at the Obuasi Municipal Assembly presented a citation and a plaque on behalf of the Association to the Head of Service. The presentation was in recognition of his contributions towards Ghana’s Decentralisation and Local Governance having served in various national roles and capacities as a District Chief Executive, Deputy Regional Minister, Regional Minister and now Head of the Local Government Service.

The Association’s Vice President expressed the Associations heartfelt appreciation to the Head of Service for his exemplary leadership and work towards the progress of the Service.

Representatives from the KEEA were also at his office to present a realistic painting to him on his 60th birthday.
