ACCRA – Tuesday February 6, 2018: The Office of the Head of the Local Government Service (OHLGS) has organised an orientation workshop at the Accra City Hotel for Regional Ministers (RMs) and Regional Co-ordinating Directors (RCDs) on the 2018 Performance Management Contract.
The Head of Service, Ing. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur remarked that an efficient and effective Public Service was critical for national development, as such its productivity should be of concern to all. He said the OHLGS would continue to support capacity development of staff of the Local Government Service for improved performance.
The one-day workshop was designed to provide RMs and RCDs with an insight into the contents of the 2018 Performance Management Contract (PMC); and to create a platform for stakeholders to reach a consensus on the Key Performance Areas (KPAs) with their corresponding Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The presentation on the 2018 PMC offered stakeholders opportunity to deliberate on the KPAs and KPIs.
The Regional Ministers and Regional Co-ordinating Directors through their spokespersons expressed gratitude to the Head of Service for the opportunity to participate in the process and expressed satisfaction on the outcome of the deliberations. The RMs articulated their preparedness to support the RCDs to succeed; while the RCDs on their part called for the collaboration of the RMs to enable them deliver on their mandate. The Chairman of the Local Government Service Council (LGSC) also expressed appreciation to be part of the process.
The Head of Service was elated at the close of the workshop for the massive participation and said that was reflective of the RMs and RCDs commitment to national development. He added that the Chief Executives and Coordinating Directors would be provided with a similar orientation to bring them to speed on the preparation towards the implementation of the 2018 PMC. Dr Arthur indicated that the contract between RMs and RCDs would be signed on February 27, 2018 with the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development in attendance.
Present at the workshop were the Deputy Minister of MLGRD, Hon. Osei Bonsu Amoah, Chief Director, Directors and some Senior Officers of the OHLGS.
