OHLGS TRAINS PROSPECTIVE CHIEF DIRECTORS

Accra- Tuesday, March 7th, 2023: The Office of the Head of Local Government Service (OHLGS) has organised a one – day refresher course for thirteen (13) of its Staff who have applied for the position of Chief Director in the Service.

Opening the refresher course, the Head of Service, Ing. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur entreated the applicants to be smart in appearance, be bold and exhibit knowledge in Local Governance and Decentralisation.

He urged applicants to bear in mind  the very import of Article 195 of the 1992 Republican Constitution which vests the power to appoint Chief Directors in the President in consultation with the Local Government Service Council (LGSC) and the Public Services Commission(PSC) in order to exhibit good performance.

He stressed that postings will be based on performance at the ultimate interview at the Public Services Commission and therefore entreated the applicants to take the interview serious and provide the best of performance.

The applicants were taken through Legal and Regulatory Frameworks of Local Governance and Decentralisation in Ghana, Development Planning within the public sector, Public policy making & analysis and Human Resource Management in the public sector.

In the attendance were the Chairman of the Local Government Service Council, Dr. David Wellington Essaw, the Director General of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), Dr K. E. Mensah Abrampah and the Chief Director at the Office of the Head of Local Government Service, Madam Felicia Dapaah.
