Directors and Staff of OHLGS on Thursday 19th January, 2017 had a brief interaction with officers from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) on Waste Management. The session was to introduce staff of OHLGS to the practicality of waste segregation to ease collection and revenue generation. The MLGRD representatives said, the ministry is fully committed to efforts aimed at addressing sanitation related issues across the country.
It was explained that waste bins will be provided in each office to enable the separation of waste into paper, plastic and organic components. It was further explained that the success of the separation process can help OHLGS generate some resources including revenue. Some staff expressed concerns over the size and number of waste bins to be placed in each of the offices as this can cause inconveniences.
The Chief Director of OHLGS, Mr. Joseph M. Dasanah said it is prudent to reconsider the proposed number of bins to be placed in each office due to space limitations. He said OHLGS is ever ready to support the efforts of MLGRD in its quest to address the sanitation menace in the country.
