DANIDA REVIEW MISSION DEBRIEF STAKEHOLDERS ON RSGGP FINDINGS

OHLGS – 1ST MARCH, 2017: As a follow up to an initial meeting held with the Head of Service and Directors of the OHLGS on Monday, February 20, 2017, the review mission commissioned by DANIDA to conduct mid-term review of the DANIDA supported Rights to Services and Good Governance Programme (RSGGP) met with staff of the OHLGS and other stakeholders to brief them on their findings. The meeting was chaired by the Chief Director of the OHLGS, Mr. Joseph M. Dasanah. As part of the review process, the team interacted with staff of the OHLGS, officers of the Greater Accra and Eastern Regional Co-ordinating Councils and selected MMDAs in the two Regions among others.

The review mission team thanked the various institutions and persons for their invaluable contributions in diverse ways and especially staff of OHLGS and the Danish Embassy for being instrumental during the planning and facilitation process.

The team expressed satisfaction on the progress of implementation across the various levels of the Service as evidence gathered indicated that the Danish funds are being used judiciously. With the solid foundation put in place, the team expressed optimism that the gains made in the implementation of administrative decentralisation by the Local Government Service (LGS) can be sustained in the years ahead.

The team made some recommendations including prioritization of the development of middle level management staff of the OHLGS, systematic monitoring of interventions to validate reports received from the regional and district levels and the introduction of regular use of citizen’s satisfactory surveys.

The Chief Director and Directors of the OHLGS commented on some of the findings by the team and were appreciative of the recommendations made.
