OHLGS REVIEWS 2021 PERFORMANCE AND PLANS FOR 2022

ACCRA – March 23-24, 2021: The Office of the Head of Local Government Service (OHLGS) has organised a Management Retreat to review its performance in the previous year and to shapen its outlook for the current year. The Retreat which was held in Accra was attended by Management and other senior officers at the OHLGS.

The Head of Service, Ing. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur opened the session with a brief remark in which he commended Management and staff of the OHLGS for their performance in the previous year notwithstanding the challenges encountered. He was optimistic that, the current year offers prospects for greater achievements. He urged the officers to make the best of the Retreat as plans and activities agreed on would determine the direction of the Service going forward. The Chief Director, Mr. James Oppong-Mensah also advised Management to take the deliberation of the Retreat seriously because it would be the basis to determine indicators for their annual assessment.

The Retreat featured a review of the performance of the various Directorates and Units in the year 2021 and a discussion of their 2022 Annual Action Plans. The outcome of the implementation of the Performance Contract for Directorates and Units for 2021 was also discussed. Operational issues including the review of the Service’s Protocols; leveraging on ICT to drive the operation of the office; and the introduction of an awards scheme for staff of the OHLGS were also considered. The Retreat also identified strategies to mitigate some operational challenges faced in the previous year to ensure optimum performance.

The Retreat ended with a note from Dr Arthur on the success and usefulness of the programme. He indicated that the implementation of planned activities by Directorates and Units would contribute significantly to the achievement of the objectives of the Service.
