ORIENTATION OF THE 3RD LOCAL GOVERNMENT SERVICE COUNCIL

ACCRA – Wednesday December 20, 2017: Members of the 3rd Local Government Service Council (LGSC) have been provided with an orientation at a workshop organised in Accra. The orientation which took place at the Elking Hotel, East Legon was organised by the Office of the Head of the Local Government Service (OHLGS) to brief Council Members on general status and operations of the Service to put them in a better position to share their varied experience to drive the Service to achieve its objectives.

Presentations were made by the Heads of various Directorates from the OHLGS. The presentations were centered basically on the duties, responsibilities, challenges and activities planned for the coming year 2018.

The corporate governance presentation was also made. The Chairman of the Public Service Commission, Mrs Bridget Katsriku provided Council Members with knowledge and skills required to help them discharge their role as Council Members effectively in line with good corporate practises. The presentation highlighted some likely organisational challenges; and benefits that would accrue if good corporate governance practises were adhered to.

In his closing remarks, the Chairman of the LGSC, Nana Rex Owusu Ansah thanked the Head of Service and his Management Team for the opportunity and the insight provided to members. He pledged the continual support of the Council to the course of decentralisation and local governance in Ghana.
